Specifications
Strings | - 24 Premium Sipario (aka Salvi or Aquila Corde) SilkGut strings. - These are superior strings (much better than your standard nylon) with long sustain and a very good overall feel, tension and tension distribution. - Spacing: similar to the top end of a pedal harp, good for fingers & hand sizes of all ages. String table here |
Range | - 5C-2E as a minimum. See string table here. - This range is based on the desire (following extensive research with teachers, students and pros) to have a small, portable harp, with suficient bass, with all strings minimally required in the first 6 years of harp education in school. - Since it's electric you can of course add notes and octaves using pitch shifter and octaver pedals. - In piano terminology the lowest string would be called a 3C. That's one whole octave below the "middle C" (so 130.81Hz). Nice and low for such a compact harp! |
Electronics | - Fully native all-string pickup and built-in pre-amp. - Superior Delta harp bass response. |
Adjustable height | 3 heights: - 87 cm (34 inch), for sitting on the floor/ a pillow or use standing on table top; - 101 cm (40 inch), for on low seat or stool; - 116 cm (46 inch), for sitting on a normal chair |
Dimensions | - Size: The harp itself is 7 cm deep, 87 cm long by 47 cm wide. - In carrier bag: ± 8 x 88 x 48 cm (3'x 18.5' x 34.5'). - Overhead compartment: For most airlines this will fit (do check before flying though). - Accessories: All fits in same package. The stand, feet and smaller accessories all fully flat-pack inside the harp frame like a jigsaw. - Storage & transport: The flat-packed position with levers down allows for stacking, storing and/or transporting many Harp·E on top of eachother. You can fit more than 20 into the tiniest of cars, including the driver. (We tried a Fiat 500). |
Carrier bag | - Sturdy fabric bag with handle to carry as bag, as well as 2 comfortable straps to wear as a backpack. - Fits snugly around the harp. - Extra pocket with zip for spare strings, battery, hex keys, A4/Letter lesson printouts, etc. - The extremely robust "exoskeleton" construction of the frame acts as a protective case itself for the more fragile parts that are safely inside the harp, so in combination with the carrier bag you have the equivalent protection of a hard case. - The strap for the harp doubles as a cross body strap for the bag. |
Weight | - Harp: 3.6 kg / 7.8 lbs - Stand: 1.2 kg / 2.6 lbs |
Levers | - All levers C5-2E - Revolutionary patented lever system: simple materials, ultra durable. Uniquely allows for pitch bending, vibrato and microtonality. |
Volume | - Acoustically ±75 dB - Amplified: Unlimited dB when plugged in... |
Materials | - The harp is very, very sturdy. - High grade beech plywood and solid, stainless steel fasteners. - Only parts that do not carry any load we've made out of aluminium to keep the weight down. |
Finish | - Please note high-end wood finishes are very labour intensive and therefore extremely expensive. Therefore we dropped it down the features wishlist. The finish is no-frills. It's non-polished, non-gloss, with a single layer of heavy duty coating (Monocoat 2K Oil), protecting the wood from the elements. This helps us direct the funds where we believe it matters most: premium strings and electronics for the best sound and playability. - The simple finish allows you to get creative and (optionally) apply your own secondary finish on top as you please. The protective layer has soaked quite deeply into the wood, so you can (lightly) sand or polish it yourself without compromising the protective layer. - Coated packages: The coating is opaque, which leaves the wood grain pattern visible. We love it that way, but you can add further coating as you please. Use one that works on top of a 2K Oil - check with your paint retailer. - DIY-Uncoated: comes without any coating. That's unlimited freedom to customise the coating, but please ensure you know what you're doing. For instance on the levers, any applied coating should be thin and smooth to ensure functionality. |
Packaging |
- The (recycled & recyclable) cardboard box that sits around the harp and bag on delivery to your doorstep is about 50 x 90 x 10 cm, you could reuse it later on for transport. We've avoided using any styrofoam as it's so harmful for the environment. This means however that the cardboad box takes all the punches and might end up with minor punctures. Especially customs officers in the US and UK can be quite rough with goods. We've packed the harp inside in such a way however, that all parts are well protected. - All parts sit within the (recommended) carrier bag which sits within a plastic sleeve to protect from moisture along the way to you. Small parts are packed in reused (and reusable), sealable bags. - Some metal parts have a bit of paraffin in the sachets to prevent oxidation. This is harmless, just wipe them dry with a bit of tissue. |
